  • A suspect outbreak of notifiable avian influenza has been declared 05/10/2025 in a commercial poultry premises near Omagh in Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
  • Disease control measures including the humane culling of all poultry on site and the introduction of Temporary Control Zones (TCZ) around the farm, have been put in place to reduce the risk of disease spread.
  • It is extremely important to follow high biosecurity standards and to register with DAFM all poultry holdings: commercial farms or backyard flocks, to help protect poultry flocks and farmers’ livelihoods from the impacts which an outbreak of this disease would bring into Ireland.
  • Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) continues to circulate in wild bird populations in Ireland, UK and mainland Europe.
  • Outbreaks in domestic poultry have been declared in UK and mainland Europe.
