An outbreak of foot and mouth disease was confirmed in a cattle farm in Greece, in the area of Mantamados, Lesvos Island on the 16th of March 2026, with sixteen additional outbreaks being confirmed afterwards.
Appropriate movement restrictions and further measures have been introduced in the whole island.
Since the first outbreak confirmed in the Republic of Cyprus on the 20th of February, further 49 outbreaks have been confirmed.
The Republic of Cyprus will implement emergency protective vaccination in about 850,000 animals, including cattle, sheep and pigs, and not susceptible wildlife.
