| Description | Perkinsus olseni is a pathogenic dinoflagellate which affects a large range of mollusc species. It targets the connective tissue of the hosts organs and their haemocytes. It can be fatal or lead to a life long carrier status. Clinical signs are non specific; dead or gapping molluscs with individuals in the later stages of the disease slow to close their valves. |
